Know Your Students: Using Student Data to Create a More Inclusive Classroom

Event Date

Location
Writing Center - TLC 4th Floor

Students learn best when they can see the rich connections that exist between their lives and the topics and skills they’re learning in class. As we know, instructors can help to make these connections explicit by learning more about the students they teach.  In this workshop, Lead Programmer Matthew Steinwachs (CEE) and Dr. Patricia Turner (CEE), will guide participants through the use of Know Your Students, a UC Davis-based web application that gives instructors an additional method for understanding key characteristics of their class and provides a centralized network of instructional support to actively improve inclusive instruction. Participants will have the opportunity to explore the Know Your Students tools and share thoughts, experiences and inclusive strategies for teaching students in ways that speak to students’ own experiences. This workshop is part of Principles of Community Week, an opportunity for the campus community to engage each other in honor of values that celebrate our diverse community.

The Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion will provide lunch to all registered workshop attendees.
