Students (and instructors) are often compelled by charged, controversial, or contentious issues. These difficult conversations can lead to great teaching moments, but can also quickly turn messy. Participants in this workshop will learn strategies to create a safe and supportive space that facilitates discussion and encourages students’ thoughtful engagement, critical thinking, and effective communication when discussing difficult topics.
