Research shows that the teaching strategies instructors use can have an enormous impact on student engagement and learning. In this interactive workshop, participants will explore five evidence-based strategies to spark attention, boost participation, and help students enter a state of flow—“an optimal experience of total absorption in the task at hand” (Schmidt, 2010). In this workshop facilitated by Dr. Patricia Turner (CEE), participants will experience the strategies, discuss their impact, and leave with ready-to-use activities to energize their next lecture. This workshop is open to faculty, postdoctoral scholars and graduate students.
