Goals for UC Assessment Professionals:

  • hear about Provost Newman’s equity-advancing goals / plans
  • understand the Provost’s perspective
  • brainstorm how to integrate our ideas/definition into future system-wide discussions about student learning
  • begin a relationship with the Provost
 

Goals for Provost Newman:

  • meet advocates for equitable, meaningful, and sustainable assessment of student learning outcomes
  • share her perspectives about, and plans to achieve, educational equity for all UC students
  • identify potential partners for efforts to advance equity through student learning outcomes assessment

Defining Equity-Minded Assessment
 

In this session, we will discuss:

  • What is Equity-minded Assessment?
  • What is not Equity-minded Assessment?
  • What does (or should) Equity-minded Assessment look like at a UC campus?
  • Why does Equity-minded Assessment matter?
  • How does Equity-minded Assessment differ from what is happening?

Working Session 2

Reflecting on Our Assessment Contexts
 

In this session, we will discuss:

  • Where does assessment happen within the different UCs?
  • How does our assessment work intersect with different people, offices, systems?

Examples of possible partners or influential policies in assessment include accrediting bodies like WSCUC or ABET, UC 2030 Goals & UC Compact, Academic Senate, academic departments/schools/colleges.
