Professional Development Resources
Our Inclusive Teaching Guide on our website features resources about supporting accessibility in course design.
A 10-Point Guide to supporting student accommodations, authored by faculty liaisons with the Disabled Students’ Program at Berkeley, provides some general guidance to faculty interested in understanding both proactive and reactive approaches to supporting students with disabilities.
The Core Template, a bCourses template developed by Digital Learning Services (part of RTL and connected to CTL) using only Canvas native tools, is fully accessible, but also designed to encourage instructors to implement best practices in course design.
Accessible Technology Resources (in RTL, the unit that houses CTL)
Our campus supports Ally in Canvas (bCourses at Berkeley) and we have a robust service page with information about using Ally.
A page on Accessible Course Content includes a lot of information about how faculty can design accessible instructional materials
Our Remote Instruction Guide’s module on accessibility has a lot of resources on remediating inaccessible course materials across multiple tools (e.g. Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat)
Programming
We work closely with two faculty liaisons with the Disabled Students’ Program who engage with faculty on questions related to supporting accommodations
One of cohort-based faculty programs, the Teaching Excellence Colloquium (TEC), includes programming that addresses approaches to Universal Design for Learning
We partner with the College of Engineering to offer the Equitable Grading Strategies module as part of the EMPOWERing Engineers for Positive Change program
