Workshop Description
Are you designing your own course for summer session or the academic job market? Are you interested in making your course materials accessible for all students? In this workshop, you will learn strategies to guide you in virtual or in-person course design and lesson planning with accessibility in mind. Designing a course entails careful consideration of multiple components, including course goals, assessments, learning activities, and situational factors. When designing a course and its materials, an accessible approach reduces barriers and ensures that all students are able to easily engage with course content. Participants will be introduced to the Integrated Course Design framework, which adheres to the new ADA Title II guidelines, to inform their planning process. Participants will also explore ways to apply the framework to a course they may be teaching or materials they are preparing for instruction, such as syllabi, slides, and Canvas pages.
