Preparing for Scantron Test Scoring
Preparing your Scantrons and materials in advance can help your scoring appointment run smoothly and efficiently. Review the guidelines below before arriving for your appointment.
Scantron Form Requirements
Use only the UCD Scantron Form 2000.
UCD Scantron Form 2000:
- Works with the stand-alone scoring machines
- Includes space for 100 questions with up to five answer choices
- Allows up to four test versions
- Accommodates a nine-digit student ID number
- Accommodates subjective scores up to 999
- Supports scoring options such as weighted answers and penalty points
- Allows for computer-assisted analysis of exam questions
Directions for students
Prepare Your Scantrons
Before your appointment:
- Remove Scantrons from all test booklets.
- Stack the Scantrons with the cut corners aligned at the bottom left.
- Confirm that each student has bubbled in their student ID number.
- Confirm that each student has bubbled in the appropriate test version: A, B, C, or D. If there is only one version, all students must select A.
- Do not staple Scantrons.
- Complete the answer key with a pencil on a Scantron form.
What to Bring
Required:
- Completed Scantron forms
- An answer key with the correct answers filled in on a Scantron form using a pencil
Recommended:
- A student roster with ID numbers
- An assistant if you have a large number of Scantrons and may need help organizing them
What to Expect at Your Appointment
Most Scantron scoring sessions take approximately 25–30 minutes when materials are prepared in advance. Instructors can typically score up to 350 Scantrons in under 30 minutes.
