Position Title
Teaching Assistant Consultant
Hello! My name is Patrick Wade and I am a second-year PhD student in Sociology. My research focuses on the intersection of public policy, inequality, and organizations, with the goal of identifying policies that can promote greater equity within labor markets. Currently I am applying natural language processing techniques to study the transcripts of central banks and to understand how they manage disagreement and reach consensus decisions on monetary policy.
Both of my parents (and multiple grandparents) were educators in public school systems, so the classroom has always felt like home to me. I also have greatly benefited from teachers and teaching assistants who invested their time in helping me succeed in the classroom. I have been a TA since my second year of undergrad and have also been a TA for upper and lower division classes at UC Davis. I am excited to partner with other TAs who are passionate about effective, equitable, and evidence-based teaching practices and building a supportive learning community.
