Position Title
Teaching Assistant Consultant
My name is Emma Zumbro, and I’m a fourth-year PhD candidate in English studying primarily nineteenth-century and twentieth-century American literature. My current research focuses on the interaction between environmental engineering projects and settler health discourses in the work of Californian women writers.
Here at UC Davis, I teach in the University Writing Program, and I have TA’ed for several lower- and upper-division literature courses. Before coming to Davis, I completed my BA and MA at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, where I taught first-year composition and worked in the writing center. As an instructor, I’m interested in equitable assessment practices and strategies for reaching learners of varied educational backgrounds. One of my favorite activities is talking about pedagogy with my peers in my department, from whom I’m constantly learning, so I am excited to work with TAs and graduate student instructors across campus as a TAC.
