My name is Devin Romines, and I'm a 4th year PhD Candidate in Integrative Genetics and Genomics with a Designated Emphasis in Reproductive Biology studying the regulation of genes governing plant development.  Much of my pedagogical instruction has come from the FUSE (Future Undergraduate Science Educators) Program offered by the College of Biological Sciences.  I've TA'd for a diverse array of upper division biology courses and am lucky enough to be the co-instructor of a genomics class this upcoming Fall.  My teaching focuses on hands-on, collaborative learning to bring students together to learn challenging concepts, tackle complex problems, and inspire confidence in their abilities as burgeoning scientists and as a team.  Outside of work, I serve as the conductor of the UC Davis Video Game Orchestra and the pianist for the UC Davis Graduate Student Ensemble.  I have also provided piano music for other groups on campus (Cherry Pie Improv Comedy, Studio 301, Chamber Music).  Beyond music, I love throwing elaborate Halloween (and Summerween) parties, and playing video games with my friends.

After being a part of the Graduate Teaching Community this past year, I am so excited to be one of the facilitators and continue sharing and discussing teaching techniques with other enthusiastic graduate students.
