Bio

Hello! My name is Caitlyn Young and I’m a second year PhD student in the department of Anthropology.

I’m an archaeologist and cartographer whose research uses remote sensing data from satellites and drones. My current project works to increase native plant harvests in the Great Basin. I began working as a teaching assistant when I was a student at Santa Rosa Junior College, and when I moved to Denver to finish my undergraduate degrees, I taught after school science classes at the Denver Schools of Science and Technology.

I'm a first-gen college student and have appreciated professors and TAs who helped me succeed. I am excited to support other TAs and build a supportive learning community for students, TAs, and professors here at Davis. When I’m not making maps or teaching, you can find me making pottery, playing (and coaching youth) soccer, and traveling around northern California.
