Bio

Hello! My name is Andrea Hernandez, and I’m a third-year Ph.D. student in Spanish Linguistics with emphases in Second Language Acquisition, and Writing, Rhetoric & Composition Studies. My fascination with languages, cultures, and teaching has shaped my academic and professional path. After earning my degree in Arabic Language and Linguistics from the University of Alicante (Spain), I spent five years teaching Spanish and Academic Writing at Cairo University (Egypt). When I moved to California, I taught Spanish at the high school level for two years before joining UC Davis, where I now serve as an Associate Instructor and TA in both the Spanish Department and the University Writing Program.

My research focuses on second language acquisition, multilingual writing, and sociolinguistics.

I love teaching, so I’m excited to serve as a TAC to continue growing as an educator and to support TAs from across campus as they reflect on their teaching practices. When I’m not teaching, you can usually find me with my dogs, on a road trip, or out enjoying nature.
