Position Title
Teaching Assistant Consultant
My name is Aleena Siritanapivat, and I’m a fourth year PhD student in Chemistry and Chemical Biology. My research seeks to understand the structure, function, and drug modulation of proteins, specifically ion channels but can expand to more! I was born in Thailand, but I immigrated and was raised in America for practically my whole life. My grandmother was a teacher and principal, and my grandfather was a pharmacist, so I like to say that I was fated to have a passion for both teaching and medicinal chemistry.
I want to make chemistry, a notoriously hard subject, easier and more accessible to grasp for students ever since I started college at UC Irvine, and the passion has grown stronger since I came to Davis. I’m excited to hear about and share ideas on ways to make learning more inclusive and supportive!
When I’m out and about, you can find me dancing hip hop/jazz funk, chit-chatting over food/boba, drawing/crafting, or making bouquets!
